I don’t want to be identified as a person who lives in despair or poverty or sickness or even as a survivor of these things. I will however share things about trials I have faced when I’m led to; though they are not who I am anymore. For many years, I lived my life at the bottom; taking pity from anyone because of where I was, instead of rising above my circumstances.
As a believer my identity is supposed to be in Christ. Jesus boldly confessed HIS identity and purposes throughout the Gospels and NOT his enemies. Therefore, I should not give any glory or even any attention to sickness or tribulations or trials. I am to shift my attention from them to who my identity in Christ is and His purposes for me; using the Sword of the Spirit. When I do this my faith rises and I overcome. I don’t live expecting bad things to happen or anticipate them happening. Therefore, because of the shift in my thought life I do not experience half of the battles I used to.
We are to use all things we’ve overcome as pads to launch us further into greater things; enlightening the eyes of our hearts in the riches available to us in Christ Jesus (Eph 1).
The Bible says we are to keep our eyes fixed on Him not on the devil or his tactics. There’s a miracle in our mouths and minds. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
I challenge you to test this in your own life. I can tell you that I began noticing that when I changed what was coming out of my mouth from the cares and worries of my life to the expectations of the Promises of God being fulfilled that my life radically changed.
2 Cor 13:5 says examine yourself to see if you’re in the faith. Build yourself up in your most holy faith; not the enemy.
Think about this: If you’re in the same boat as other people around you, there’s a good chance you’re in the same the boat battling just as they are too. Get out of the boat and walk on water just like Jesus. He’s our example we’re to follow.
